Algae Dataset

Every data hub, dataset, sensor, variable, paper and limitation in one tree — and for each: where it comes from, how far back it goes, how often it captures, why it belongs in a cholera study, and why it does not work everywhere.

Why it is used for cholera. NOT VALIDATED
Why not — catalogue limitation. Landsat has NO red-edge band, so this is a weak substitute for NDCI. It is nonetheless the ONLY way to extend your algae record back to 2000. Be explicit about this limitation in any manuscript, and consider restricting formal inference to 2017-2026 with 2000-2016 as descriptive context.

HIGH Landsat green/blue chlorophyll proxy is uncalibrated validation

The ratio responds to chlorophyll but the relationship is scene-specific and unvalidated for Bangladeshi water. Absolute values carry no physical meaning.

What to do: Use it for RELATIVE change and phenology only. Always state it as an index and never report it in mg/m3.
