Algae Dataset

Every data hub, dataset, sensor, variable, paper and limitation in one tree — and for each: where it comes from, how far back it goes, how often it captures, why it belongs in a cholera study, and why it does not work everywhere.

Formats
CSV / NetCDF / JSON, built from the URL path
Strength. Subsetting is done in the URL itself - no client library, no account, no rate limit. Emits CSV directly. Excellent for SST, rainfall and climate indices, with some records reaching back to the 1850s.
Weakness. A THIN ocean-colour archive. Its NASA/PO-DAAC/oceancolor branch is sparse and inconsistently maintained. Time bounds are month-granular even for daily data, and a 26-year daily CHIRPS subset is a heavy request.
Use it for. Use IRI for ERSST v5 sea surface temperature, CHIRPS daily rainfall and CAMS-OPI monthly rainfall over each site box. Do NOT plan chlorophyll around it - get that from ERDDAP, CMEMS or GEE.
